What are some fun, different date questions or topics of conversation?
Off the top of my head:
- what three words describe you best? describe me best?
- what are your spiritual gifts?
- what is your pet-peeve?
- do you have any famous relatives?
- what would you want written on your tombstone?
- what is something you would tolerate only if your spouse liked it?
- what one aspect of your personality would you change?
- who do people say you look like?
My favorite:
- toilet paper: fold, crinkle, or wrap?

Try to stay away from relatives....lol. I wouldn't mention the spouse thing, it just kinda comes close to the marriage subject, as far away as it actually is. Good conversation starters are any question, then add a "why" to it. example:
You: So what bands do you like?
Her: OSU Marching Band.
You: Why?

Why is the most annoying thing anyone could ever ask... unless you want them to hit you i wouldn't say it.

Topic ideas:
ask them if they enjoy __________ (doing whatever you enjoy) such as going to or renting movies, driving/roadtrips, camping, walking or hiking, fishing/hunting, team sports, swimming, boating or just going to the beach, etc.
Ask if you have common friends that you might hang with,
What church they go to (and maybe why),
Where they go/want to go/are gonna go to school (if applicable),
Interesting places that they have been,
You might also tell the same things about you (if they ask or if it seems like a good conversation, obviously don't brag or be pushy about it, and don't talk about yourself all the time!)
Find out things you like to do, and do them together - be friends. It doesn't have to be "romatic" all the time.

Oddly enough, that's been a topic that seems to pop up more and more lately...
There are the proverbial "If you were stranded on a desert island" questions, of course. I rather like "If you could change one thing about your current life situation, what would it be and why?" as well as the personality one listed in the first post. But really... just get talking. Find some way to go off on a tangent and let the conversation run with it.
