devotions

Question:
hey guys. my girlfriend and i have been kind of drifting away from our relationships with God. we've talked about it recently, and decided that apart from our own devotions and prayer times, that we're going to do a joint one. do you guys have any ideas for a devotional i can do with my girlfriend? either a devotionals book, or a book in the bible. anything would do!

Answer:
Avoid doing devotionals alone. Do them in a group with others, and do the same devotionals in private apart from each other.
Right now I am breathing in a few Spurgeon devotionals and sermons a day. It is helping me in a lot of ways.
Just try reading through a few devotional books at a bookstore- avoid any that just make you feel mindlessly happy. If you find one that makes you actually think about what you believe and how you put that into action, then odds are you've found a good devotion.
Psalms is a good book to read through. I usually read a psalm a few times through, then read some commentaries on them to get a fuller grasp on them.
Answer:
My "devotions" are now done electronically! This Blog is excellent, and has regular Spurgeon excerpts, and sound theology.
