Animal breeding
Question: Has anyone here made a profit breeding animals? This will be my first year breeding reptiles and geckos so hopefully that will get me on a good start. I would like to breed high end morph of red-tail boas and leopard geckos. Any thought on this? Thanks Justin Answer: My Biology teacher breeds many things. He makes good profit, but I think he does it for fun. I think that is the only way to be successful. Answer: YEah, I only want it to be a hobbie, but it would be cool to make a living out of it. Answer: I used to breed rabbits. It was good fun. I didn't make any money off it. I just ended up giving the bunnies to friends who wanted them. But it was lots of fun..! Peace and love, Rhonda. Answer: i help my friends breed mini-aussie's (dog's)...it's fun but time consuming...and it's really a smart way to make cash on the side...and as long as you don't get too big the gov't won't find you....and reptiles are probably easier to breed-raise than dog's because you don't have to love on them and spend much time with them.. Answer: I used to trade in sword tails for other fish in the pet-store does hat count? Answer: I am talking more of $300-$5,000 snakes. I have my first eggs this year that should hatch sometime soon. Answer: Originally Posted by spyrotheleo I am talking more of $300-$5,000 snakes. I have my first eggs this year that should hatch sometime soon. cool! I want to get something like a snake or a iguana or something along that line but my mom won't let me. I've actually caught a snake or two here in the woods around my house, I let them go though. Answer: Why would you want to breed more animals? AT least don't breed dogs or cats (by "breed" I obviously mean on purpose) because there are waaaaaaay too many of them, even purebreds, being killed in shelters because no one wants them. No one wants them. That's gotta be the SADDEST statement ever made about a pet who is supposed to be "man's best friend" /negativity Sorry, I don't want to rain on your party. I don't want to be talking-down towards animal breeders. By all means, go ahead and breed all the pet snakes you want - as far as I know there isn't an overpopulation problem with pet snakes! Go right ahead with your discussions Answer: Yeah, my first gecko eggs hatched today. One albino and one normal het albino. With higher end snakes there aren't any overpopulasion like dogs and cats so that wont be a problem. I can't wait tell the fall when I will get my first pair of high end red-tail boas. That's what I thought, but I still tend to despise "animal breeding" as a "profession" Answer: When I was in graduate school, we had some marginal success cross-breeding geckos and Mulgaras (a carnivorous marsupial that lives in arid, sandy areas and doesn't need water) I say marginal success because wlthough we got viable offspring (they looked like fuzzy miniature velociraptors) were unable to find suitable food for them and they all died within weeks of apparent malnutrition. If they had survived, we could have sold each for $1,000's. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
