When your best man shatters his ankle...

Question:
what do you do? He busted his ankle last night and is currently in surgery. Obviously, I am concerned for him, but at the moment, I am a wee bit concerned with wedding confusion. Anybody got a clue in how to deal with this one?
Answer:
Will he be oh crutches? I see nothing wrong with the best man having crutches at a wedding.. my sisters were almost excited when they thought I might have em.. they wanted to decorate the crutches with flowers and ribbons and such (fortunatlly it wasn't neccisary ) But you could even ask the users to help him out, he could lean on someone there.. I really don't think it's a huge deal. but heck, don't listen to me, my brother in law's best man didn't even show up till partway through!

So yea.. either find a creative way to handle the situation... or find a new best man.. but I think creativity is the best choice.

He is 6 foot 7 so Im a bit concerned as he can't lean on anybody else. (He is basically a foot taller than me)
Answer:
would you have problem with him sitting down? perhaps you could get ahold of a tall stool, one tall enough so he is about the hight of the rest of you?
Answer:
that would work, if he can go...
Answer:
well, no discussion neccisary if he can't go, then you'd only have 2 choices. And honestly, I mean, would you really want to post pone the wedding till he was able to go? Cause other then finding another best man, that's your only choice in that case.

From one who had everything possible go wrong that could, all I can say is get creative. As long as he is out of the hospital there is a way to have him there with you. There is nothing wrong with him being in a wheelchair, or sitting as someone else suggested. If a cast keeps him from wearing tux trousers, he could just wear black ( or whatever color tux you have chosen ) slacks that have the side seam slit to go over the cast.
Answer:
We didn't have a bestman or bridesmaids
