To the newly married... or those with good memories.
Question: I have the opportunity to travel by car across the country from graduation to CA with my family for free before the wedding. (this is going to be around 20+ people mind you, so I doubt any serious explosions as usually my family puts on its best behavior then) Here is the problem: They are planning on going real slow and touring a lot of stuff around the northern US. These are places i have not been, yellowstone, mount rushmore, etc. (Basically, my grandparents, and aunts decided my wedding would be a good opportunity for a family vacation) Anyway, this caravan arrives 4 days before the wedding. I was originally scheduled to arrive 10 days before. Now I like the idea of less time right before the wedding. I have a sneaking suspicion that if life has been any indication so far temptation will be unbelievably brutal. Now the hard thing is, is I am not sure whether I would be any use or a nuisance to have around at that time. I do not know if at that proximity of time whether I would be good for anything to where I should just take the train. Answer: How does your fiance feel? Answer: nervous but unsure. kind of neutral. The advantages and disadvantages have us both fairly neutral, but definitely on edge. Answer: I suppose, if it were me, I would want to be there when I can. But it can be a last holiday time with just you and your family and the temptation would be shorter with only 4 days I guess. It would aslo save you money if you travel with your family I guess. Thats the plus side. Negative is less time to help. My family is fairly volatile, though the ones who seem to be a catalyst for violence would not be there. Answer: are you going to be reachable? like by cell phone or something? I say this hesitantly, but I think you should take the trip. As I got closer and closer to the wedding day it was more about getting things put together and surviving the wedding. Perhaps your fiancee is much more organized and prepared than I was and is in an entirely different situation, but that was how things worked for me... Answer: if there is still a lot of things to be done before the wedding... going there as you intended (10 days before) would be a great help.. but if your fiancee (as dana said) have it all set up.. then definitely, take that trip with your family. believe me, as it gets nearer and nearer... the temptation will be even greater... if you can't go with your family, my suggestion is.. avoid being alone, avoid being private as much as possible. Answer: I wouldn't have gone for this if my husband would have wanted to do this. The last couple weeks are when everything is SO CRAZY there are lots of last minute ends to tie up and my husband was a great support during that time. I really needed that. Not to mention that was also a very special time as we prepared together to spend our lives together such as packing up and moving things into our house, getting the necessities for our home, and dealing with all those little things here and there. The biggest reason was SUPPORT SUPPORT SUPPORT, that's the biggest reason I needed him around. He wouldn't have been much help if he was exhausted 4 days before our wedding, the emotion of it all is exhausting enough in itself, highly suggest you stick around because it seems to me from your prospective you'd be overdoing it and running yourself ragged. Trust me the wedding itself will run your ragged. Answer: personally, I was more in need of that support during the 10 months building up to the wedding... in the last week or so it was all about the actual wedding which meant that my Gramma was busy, my maid of honour, and that I was all over the place. I didn't really see Chris much during the final countdown... Answer: Delaina, the things you mentioned are done or the mechanisations are in place. As far as moving in, I believe the paln is for her to move in in a week or two. I bring with me approximately 30-50 friends who have volunteered to move my 3 computer monitor boxes worth of stuff in Chicago back. The rest of my stuff is scattered throughout attics in southern california. We have spent two years seriously preparing for life together, and getting what we need. Im really leaning toward going with family because Its that or have 2 more days where I would have to stay with some family from church or one of her distant relatives. That is usually more stressful to me than a whirlwind drive across america. And this won't even be a whirlwind. Answer: See things were different for my husband and I. We closed on our house a month before our wedding but we both decided to move in together after we got married. During that time we moved all our stuff in and especially the last couple weeks were spent doing this. If everything is in place and your fiance has given you the ok and she sincerely means it then go for it. Time with family is also important before you wedding so if you have the time and you won't be an exhausted groom on your day then I see no reason why you shouldn't go. Answer: Spend the time with your family, it may be a very long time before you ever have such an opportunity again. The wedding will be wonderful even if not every t is crossed and i is dotted. Answer: well...I will honestly say that my I needed my husband so bad those 2 weeks before the wedding. It was so difficult trying to pull everything together, with the the two of us working together, I can not even imagine what it would have been like doing it alone. I can't speak for your fiance, but I would personally know that I would need you there for that time before the wedding. I don't want to sound like I don't understand your concern about being tempted in the last few days before the wedding, but in all honesty, it's just 6 days more. Most of the time in relationships the couple is together everyday for months before the wedding, and they don't have to slip up and fall into sin. I personally think that you would be able to handle 10 days together. Also, speaking from experience, those last few days before the wedding were even less tempting the those far before the wedding because we knew the end was near. But then again, this is just my opinion. I think you need to be with your fiance for those final days. Answer: The issue became moot yesterday, they kept adding stops, and refused to bend and wanted to leave me one day for interviews. I told them I needed more or I couldn't go, and got a very, oh well response. I am taking the train. gets there 43 hrs after graduation. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
