Resumes
Question: So I'm graduating from college in May, and looking for a job. Does anyone have any good resources, or suggestions on writing up a resume to send to prospective employers? Does anyone have any good resources, or suggestions on writing up a resume to send to prospective employers? Having been through college and applied for more jobs than I care to recount, I can tell you only what I have learned along the way: Each resume should be tailored to highlight education, skills and training or past jobs applicable to the job you are applying for. The biggest skills to emphasise are the so-called soft skills (or people skills). Remember, your résumé’s job is to sell you as a viable asset. Choose your words carefully. I suggest perhaps talking to an employment councillor. Answer: Make it single page. The potential employer should be able to look at your resume and grasp the gist of it in just a couple minutes. Make it single page. Answer: I'm sendind out resumes as a a potential teacher, and I was looking up some sample resumes online. They had ones for specific jobs, and the one for the teachers was 2 pages long. I'm not sure if that is what you're supposed to do or not, because mine was one and a half pages. It was long because I have had a lot of internships, and worked at a few different places that pertain to my current position. So it made it really long, I hope it's okay. Answer: One option would be to cut out samller "goes without saying" type internships in order to accent the ones you're more proud of. However, it IS best to include as much information about yourself as possible. Why don't you post what you have here for review and suggestions? -Kevin Answer: I would just attach a resume to your applications. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
