Need help with my sermon

Question:
hello every one. im preaching at my school this friday for week of prayer. this whole week people have been talking about GOD AS... tuesday was GOD as a friend, tommorow is GOD as a father, thursday is GOD as a brother. im GOD as a servant, so far im thinkin servant applies to everything, well my problem is i need some awsome stories i can use with my sermon, i realize i should pray before i go any farther on my sermon but something told me i should come to this webpage for help. so you guys got ne stories? some good ones.
Answer:
My first bit of advice would be to not try to find Scripture verses that you can fit into what you want to say on a certain subject, but rather find an entire passage and teach through it. When Christ washed the Disciples feet, He said, "I came to serve, not to be served." You could teach through that entire passage and see what it really means to be a servant. I think preaching is far more powerful and effective when we teach from God's Word, not into God's Word.
Answer:
something you could add in as sort of a cross refference would be something on obedience. Since obedience is vital to being a good servant.
Answer:
also humility
Answer:
Well, are you talking about God or Jesus, cause Jesus is a servant plain and clear, but I never have seen God portrayed as a servant because we are here to serve him. They are two different people, while still the same.
Answer:
Well, if you are talking about God as servant, then as someone already mentioned, the passage you want is John 13. The direction I would take would be to talk about how it is often easier for us to be served by God than to be served by Him. Peter was ready to do anything for Jesus - even to die for Him - but he wasn't ready for Jesus to give him the undeserved gift of washing his feet. In the same way, we often try to please God by trying to live a good, moral, Christian life, going to church, reading the Bible, praying, etc. as if _we_ had something of worth to give to God, when all He wants is for us to receive His love as a gift.
Or to put it another way, as prideful human beings we want to be able to claim credit for everything God has done in our lives, even our own salvation. We want to believe that God loves us because we did something to be worthy of His love, to be better than the rest of the world. It's only when we come to God, not desiring to serve, but only to be served, not bringing any good deeds before Him but simply bringing our need, that we can receive the gift of salvation and begin to be prepared to do God's work in this world.

bonzaisushi posted this thread 2 years ago. He also hasn't posted in as long. I'm gonna close the thread now as the situation is long past and no longer requires advice.
