Moving out - I'm actually doing it :)

Question:
Last week, I finished up at a job here in Bendigo, Victoria, Australia, in the hopes of finding a job in Melbourne (two hours away from Bendigo). I had job interviews over that weekend and Tuesday, I was offered a position in Melbourne. I'm excited about the position and it's going to open doors to give me a good future.
However, I have to move to Melbourne this Saturday, like...in two days. It's all happened so fast, I hardly know what I'm doing. In Bendigo I live with my parents and have all my life. This is the first time I'm leaving home. I'm scared and excited and I want to cry about it all, but I'm excited and arggh..
What is your advice for dealing with homesickness? I know I'll be a sufferer And anything general about moving out of home?
Answer:
Homesickness. Yuck. Here's the thing: I hang out on my own for a few days, don't call home or get a hold of home for a while. Establish yourself at your new place, in your area. Meet some people. Dig into God's word. Spend as much time as possible with him. After a few days, like a week or so, call home for a chat, touch base. But really just make your new place home. Phones, stamps, and email are wonderful things!
Answer:
The nice part is that 2 hours isn't that far away. Will it be easy for you to go back and forth much? If so, plan to make a weekend visit to Bendigo after a couple of weeks.
Skye is right. What you'll gradually discover is that "home" is where you are, and Melborne will probably feel more and more like "home" as you settle in.
