A few things...

Question:
Hey all, just got a few things on my mind at the moment. I wanted to share them with you.
Firstly, I have had depression for almost 2 years, ever since I got sick - glandular fever. I lost alot of friends from it after having been in bed for about three months and was also pretty tired for another 6 months. I dont think anyone understood that I was still recovering from my sickness and alot of people just thought I wasnt interested in them anymore. Anyway, to cut the story short, I became depressed through the trauma of losing a number of jobs, and friends in the period of recovery after my sickness. I lost alot of faith in God and relied more and more on my girlfriend. Oh yeah, my uni work was suffering too! hehe oops.
Anyway, its only since my gf and I broke up four months ago that I have really delt with my depression. I have been seeing a psychologist and have found out that alot of things from my childhood, have affected the way I am today. Especially my being prone to anxiety, as I had it instilled into me by my father as a kid.
I now have to learn to deal with my anxiety problems and I have also only recently made the decision to take the doctors advice and am taking antidepressants as well - Zoloft. Please pray for me, I really want to get over this anxiousness I get towards everything.
Has anyone else got anxiety problems and what do you to help control it?
Also, I was reading ecclesiastic and I have felt exactly like Solomon. I am really trying to find my hope in God, because I know all other ways are meaningless. Its just that I am finding it hard to trust Him and know His purpose for me. Its also hard to let go of all this hurt I feel towards a few people in my life. Its really hit my confidence levels, and I am not the same person I was a few years ago.
Answer:
hi....i have an anxiety disorder and depression...i've been dealing with it for about 4 years or so....so i guess i can in a way relate to how you may feel...i am also on medication...and i guess the best advice i can give you is just to pray ALOT!...like say ur in a situation and ur totally anxious..just stop then and there and ask GOd to help get you through it...that seems to help me because it helps get my mind off of how i feel and helps remind me God will help and that its all good...i also know how it feels for people to not understand...its tough i know...i'll pray for you
peace.
Answer:
hey thanks. Yeah, alot of people dont seem to understand. I get really agitated and alot of nervous energy. I also get panic attacks in strange situations, like when I was playing soccer and it was a corner kick against us, I felt really weird!!!?
Anyway, that is good advice... I havent prayed in those situations, I usually am trying to control my breathing and thought. What better way to do that then in communication with God! Cheers for your prayers too.
Answer:
I agree, prayer will certainly help you in those situations. I was wondering if your psychologist is a Christian?

No unfortunately. I went on a government program for a subsidised psychologist. She usually costs $100 p/h but it only costs me $10. I couldnt afford to see a christian counsellor. She is pretty cool about my faith though.
Answer:
How about doing lots of exercise to raise the endorphin levels? Plus, you get in better shape and you feel better about yourself.
