I need some advice about $$, jobs, a car, and family.
Question: Here is my situation: When we got out of the military and got home from Germany, John took the first job he was offered, it had great pay but he was on the road for 4 months at a time. Meanwhile I moved to where the job is based from because it was supposed to turn permenant after the first 4 month trip. Our furniture finally came in and the military won't even talk to me about it. They told John he had to be here to get it himself. So he quit to come home to recieve the furniture. The same company offered him another temp job that was supposed to last until OCt 15 or longer, but they told him yesterday that they were ending his contract for this job becasue of $$. Well, Now he is jobless for the time being. Meanwhile last Wednesday our Van broke down and it costs us $1000 to fix. That being the only mode of transportation we told them to fix it. He assumed that his Grandpa would loan us the money. Well, that didn't work out and we have no money to get the van back, but we have a clear title no payments. We have had no success in getting a loan. My mom has the money to loan us but won't. Long story short no job=no loan and that means no loan= no van and no van=not being able to find a new job. Prayer and advice needed. any suggestions would help. Answer: Pray lots. Maybe you could get some help from a local church or church members. I'll be praying for you and your husband. Answer: Yeah pray lots. Don't know how big the town is you live in but both of you could get a job and use public trans. $ 1000 may take a while to save up but if you showed this initiative, maybe your family would meet you half way or something. If you have no public transportation, maybe a job you could walk to. Sucks I know, but going into debt or getting state support is not the way to go either. It seems you need money to eat and pay rent also, so I realize you are in dire straights. Getting a job, any job with some sort of income seems to be your only answer. I think It would go along way towards getting help from family members. I will be praying for you and your husband. Also, a job that requires him to be gone on 4 month road trips is not benificial to a strong relationship. Probably better for him to look for a better job anyway. Also once you find a job maybe a coworker would be willing to pick you up for a little gas money. In Christ's Love -donnie Answer: What about unemployement from the military? I know someone who was on that for six months I think. Answer: Originally Posted by Maru What about unemployement from the military? I know someone who was on that for six months I think. While they told us that we gave that up when he took the first job in. His career field is in high demand. It shouldn't be hard for him to find a job. I am just worried. Answer: Don't worry we will pray for you. I now have a little more info on you since I posted in your theology thread earlier. I see you have some kiddos so that makes things harder. I still think if you could come up with some of the money, maybe your family would lend you the rest to fix your van, and with prayer your husband can find a new job. Have you asked the garage if you could make payments? Other than that maybe unemployment from the governement. In Christ's Love -d Answer: My mom called earlier to say that she is going to pay for the van to get fixed on Friday. And we will pay her back over time. Which is a blessing and a half. ANd God has given me peace over this situation. John will get a job soon. whether it be another temp position or a permanent one. Which personally I am hoping for.Thank you all for your help and prayers. Now I have to get back to unpacking and cleaning. The movers left a mess of my house that you wouldn't believe. Thank you all and God Bless you, I will remember you all in my prayers. I may not have friends locally but I have friends here. Answer: Luckily, you didn't plunge into credit card debt like I did in a similar situation. Credit.... GAH. Answer: Praise God. I wish the best of luck to you. I'll keep you in my prayers. We don't want to have a credit card at all. Answer: I wouldn't go so far as to say they're the root evil, but they're definitely A root of debt. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
