Please don't take it personally. The Navigation on the left-hand side does not have all the titles lined up properly. The leaf that is in the black section of this also doesn't move when you highlight a selection. The title at the top of the page doesn't quite jive with the rest of the page. I think it's probaby because of the white-on-blue effect coming from the sky at the top of the page. The Order Form could be a little bit more organized. Maybe look to another place that has nice order forms for an example (such as amazon.com). The Services table needs to be broken up into separate tables for each service. Also, the description of each service should be moved outside the table and the table should just show the Picture, Size, and Price. All in all, this page is definitely better than most. I like the color scheme and the pretty good consistency across the pages. Answer: I'm going to grind on you a bit about the coding end of things: The W3C Validator on your site... Validating is a good thing. While the site looks good for the most part (though exo has some decent points) different browsers might do weird things since you're not in spec. Another thing that you need to consider is, do you have blind people come to your site? If you do, any time you use an image, you should give it a descriptive alt='Picture of our Offices' (for instance). There are some things that you can do to make your site easily accessible by people who have some disabilities- this is something we've been learning, since when you do work with the .gov you have to be completely compliant on all that stuff. Answer: um... what exactly is validating? exo, my mother designed the website with yahoo site builder. she said the leaf was to tell you what page you're on, not which one is selected? and she wasnt able to make the words line up? can you tell us how to do that? thanks for all the other suggestions too! she will be working on the order form some more, but she was rushed to get it done and up. thanks guys! jake Answer: Originally Posted by classicgtrfreak um... what exactly is validating? exo, my mother designed the website with yahoo site builder. she said the leaf was to tell you what page you're on, not which one is selected? On the 'Home' page, when I highlight the Home selection the leaf appears and disappears so that is why I thought there was a bug going on there. The leaf definitely doesn't *have* to 'follow' your mouse. and she wasnt able to make the words line up? can you tell us how to do that? It looks like it is using images for the words in the menu. If that is the case, the images are not all of the *exact* same size (width). In other words, the images need to have the exact same dimensions and the exact same word placement in order to line up. thanks for all the other suggestions too! she will be working on the order form some more, but she was rushed to get it done and up. Like I said, just look at other examples of 'good' design and try and mimic them. Answer: The website is very nice. My and my dad design websites too - www.bigfresh.com A few small things don't seem to quite work for your Dad's site though. As already stated, the navigation text doesn't line up, and looks choppy and unrendered. I would have chosen a different shade of orange for the unselected navigation blocks. The contact page looks a little rough. Overall, very good site. -Nick Answer: Another point I would make is that the bar on the right hand side is out of proportion, making the page look squint at first glance. I'd remove it or thicken it up a bit. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
