HELP WITH RUMOR PLEASE
Question: My name is Ken, I go to a Christian school and I've been going out with this Christian girl at my school for just over 2 months. I'm on the wrestling team and a bunch of the guys on the team are not Christians. They always give me a hard time about having a girlfriend and sometimes make dirty jokes or make stuff up about me like teasing me and stuff. Well I found out that someone from the wrestling team spread a rumor that I was bragging about having sex with my girlfriend (which I have not, I am saving sex for marriage) when they were the ones shouting fake stuff out during wrestling and they must have spread it. I talked to my girlfriend and she says maybe we should break up in order to stop the rumors which I think is a really stupid reason to break up. She also isn't quite sure if I really did or didn't brag saying I had sex with her (I DIDN'T BRAG). What do I do???? PLEASE HELP!!!!! Answer: scripture says a curse causeless does not come to rest. Don't let these guys rile you. Integrity ultimately triumphs. Answer: Yeah but what do I do about the rumors and what about my girfriend considering breaking up??? Answer: Originally Posted by ltkenbo Yeah but what do I do about the rumors and what about my girfriend considering breaking up??? There isn't really much you can do to stop the rumor, IMO. The best thing to do is ignore it. As to your girlfriend, all I can say is that you should trust her to trust you. Repeat your side of the story, if necessary, but trust that she'll trust you. Answer: Do u think that breaking up just because of rumors is stupid? I sure think it is. Answer: I don't see how breaking up would silence a rumor about you two having sex. Perhaps it would only fuel the fire thinking that it caused a problem with you two. Best of luck, btw, why are these guys at a christian school if they aren't christian? (or is this a high school?) Answer: Originally Posted by ltkenbo Do u think that breaking up just because of rumors is stupid? I sure think it is. If there's anything I have learned in the two and a half years I've been with my girlfriend, it's that calling anything she thinks, believes, or feels "stupid" is about the worst thing that you could ever do. Even if you think it is stupid, it would be best not to express that to her... at least, not in that way. Not sure what the best way would be, though. heh. In His love, Nate Answer: I too say you should tough it out. God knows that you too are pure and that's what counts. So a bunch of high school punks think you did something that isn't even their business to begin with. It happens. You can't let it get to you. Sooner or later your purity will outweigh the filth of the rumours. If people are assuming something that's not true about you without even talking to you then there's not much you can do. If you go around with a bullhorn saying it's not true they'll likely think you're trying to cover it up. Give it time. Answer: Those people who are making those statements are just looking for something out of you. They gain satisfaction every time you glare at them, talk maliciously about them, or alter your life whatsoever because of them. If you give them nothing, the talk still may not stop, but it still will make the statement that you don't care. It's immature and childish on their part to do in the first place, so don't revert to their own tactics in "fighting" this. If you don't make a big deal of it, and don't panic, I think that there's no reason to break up. There's really only a problem if you make it one. Otherwise, it's just cruel people being cruel people. People will always talk and lie about others, it's just in this case that you know about it. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
