Question:
Why is it that the people you care most about hurt you the most?

I wouldn't say that the people you care most about hurt you the most, I'd say that the people you care most about have the potential to hurt you the most. This is because you have emotional investment in them, so it hurts when that investment is violated.
Did someone you were close to hurt you? If so, I'm definitely sorry.

the answer for this question can be different under many circumstances...
Answer:
you get emotional attached and those relationships have great amount of time invested in them. They have much resting on them

From the Four Loves:

Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements; lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket - safe, dark, motionless, airless - it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. The alternative to tragedy, or at least the risk of tragedy, is damnation. The only place outside of Heaven where you can be perfectly safe from all the dangers and perturbations of love is Hell.
I believe that the most lawless and inordinate loves are less contrary to God's will than a self-invited and self-protective lovelessness... We shall draw nearer to God, not by trying to avoid the sufferings inherent in all loves, but by accepting them and offering them to Him; throwing away all defensive armour. If our hearts need to be broken, and if He choose this as a way in which they should break, so be it

well, on one hand, sometimes we say things we don't mean or say what we're thinking even though there's a better way to say it... (no. never been there/done that)
I'd suggest giving it some time and space and then trying to talk things out.
Answer:
Because who gives a **** whether someone you don't like does something boorish or stupid?

Well, that'd be me.
Answer:
I'm personally under the impression that it's impossible to have a close relationship that doesn't result in someone getting hurt sometime. But that is part of what it means to be human, I figure.

That is totally true! You dont understand how true of a comment that is.I am usually the one hurting myself in pursuit to help others but really they are the ones who is causing all the pain.
Answer:
It's like Nate said, who cares if someone you don't like says something stupid? But when you have invested time into someone, and they know your strengths and weaknesses, it can kill. One reason is they know your weaknesses and what will hurt you the most, and they will most likely use those areas to hurt you.
