I am very firmly planted in my faith, but my friends arent.
What can do I do to help them if they ask me. 'Was Jesus really married?" or even worse. "Are you sure what you believe is right?"
Please, I need some advice. I just want to be there for my friends.

I ask them why in the first century would it have been a big deal if Jesus was married.
See, Peter was married, and most rabbis were. If Jesus was, it would have been a rather mundane fact in the first century. There would be no reason for a vast conspiracy, thus Occam's razor would tend to side on the unmarried side of things as there are two explanations here.
Vast conspiracy to hide a plain, boring fact of the day.

Well...the whole thing about Jesus and Mary being married and having a child thing...that weirds me out. And my little brother already asked me about it, and all I had was my Bible to back me up. Which honestly I think was my best defense.
The real trouble is my friends saying that the Christian religion is a fake, the church is based on lies and all that....

Basically, aside from the weird out factor, why would that have mattered to the early church?

I agree with Bill, even it he was married, why would it have mattered? How would the work he did on earth and the salvation of His Church be any different?
The Da Vinci Code is just story that hinges on a very old theory about Jesus and Mary Magdaline. It's just that, a theory, nothing more. So if your friends ask, tell them that, yes, there's a theory out there, and that's really that.

Voddie Bauchan is one of my favorite preachers and he does an awesome job of tackling some of the questions you (or your friends) might have and how to back up your faith. It's not your typical, "The DaVinci Code says this . . . what does the Bible say about that" type of sermon. It's more of a "this is the truth. . . got any questions" kind of sermon. I have no idea if any of that made sense . Anyway, there is a lot of good stuff in there. Check it out.
