Need Courage
Question: Well this is gonna sound stupid but i sorta have my first gig in a open mic nite event at the local church this saturday. I'm really nervous and scared and if you have any word of advice/tips and/or even prayer I would appreciate that so much. Answer: Getting in front of a lot of people on a stage can be intimidating at first. Honestly, you won't get over it much until you start doing it. What I think of that keeps me pretty levelheaded in front of a crowd is remembering that they're all regular ol' people like you. Tell a joke, get them to be friends with you even though you're one person on a stage. Just relax and have a good time with it. Answer: Joshua 1:9 (KJV) "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." That always helped me. I will pray for you! God Bless Answer: I'll pray for you too. Answer: Thnk you all so much. this whole week so far i was like getting all panicked out wen ever i thought about the upcoming event. The best way to get over it is to: 1.pray-Phillipians 4:13 & Psalm 23 are common one's that help. memorize them if you haven't already 2.relax-for an open mic you have the oppertunity to keep it light, relax, have fun! 3.experience/just do it -The more you do it, the more comfortable you'll become. Answer: being nervous is normal... it does get better the more you experience being on stage but the nervousness doesn't go away... i always get nervous every single time. but the things that always help me are... 1. i pray before walking up on stage 2. i pretend the audience are just made up of family and friends 3. it is important to make eye contact with your audience, but sometimes when i do that i get really, really nervous so for half of the time, i close my eyes 4. pretend you're just practicing Answer: Originally Posted by Praisey being nervous is normal... it does get better the more you experience being on stage but the nervousness doesn't go away... i always get nervous every single time. but the things that always help me are... 1. i pray before walking up on stage 2. i pretend the audience are just made up of family and friends 3. it is important to make eye contact with your audience, but sometimes when i do that i get really, really nervous so for half of the time, i close my eyes 4. pretend you're just practicing easier said than done but I will definitely keep this in mind. And the gig is tmoro and man im nervous and calm at the same time( how does that work? ) but anyway plz if anyone else has anything plz post. Thank you all. Answer: AHHHH! ITS TODAY AT 6:00 PM PST!!! Answer: Just relax, have fun with it. If there are people you know in the crowd, focus on them. On stage, you command the audience, be their friend, and they'll be yours. If looking at them makes your nervous, look at the wall over their heads, that makes it look like you're looking at them, but you're not really. Answer: Originally Posted by Rainer.
