Evidence

Question:
I'm taking the advice of some poeple. I'm afraid i might kill myself sometime, i think what i need is some hard evidence that there is a God and Jesus did exist, cause right now there is nothing. So if anyone has some hard facts or anything, please tell before i do something i can't take back.
Answer:
What, you mean historical evidences?
Flavius Josephus, a Jewish historian of the 1st century AD/CE wrote a fair chunk about Christ.
At the same time there was a wise man named Jesus, if we may call him a man. He was a worker of miracles and a teacher of those who willingly recieved the truth. He had many Jews and Gentiles who followed him and was believed to be the Christ. When Pilate had crucified him because of the envy of our rulers, those who had first loved him nevertheless continued loyal in their love for him and he appeared to them alive the third day. The prophets in their prophecies foretold both these and many other powerful things concerning him. The Christians who are named after him, continue to thise very day."
Josephus, being a Jewish historian, is very often assumed to be biased. "Oh, he must have been a Christian." But he wasn't. He was Jewish. Bit of a difference there. If anything he was biased against Christ's religious status, but nevertheless recognized his existence as a man and expressed doubt about his humanity.
Cornelius Tacitus also mentioned Christ:
"Christ was put to death by Pontius Pilate, the governor of Judea, in the reign of Tiberius."

What kind of "hard facts or anything" are you looking for? Dates? Statistics? Logic? Give me an idea of what to supply you with or I will just go on forever and accomplish nothing.
Answer:
Dig into the Bible, and I say that because every piece of advice and every promise in the Bible is true. If you take the advice on life that the Bible gives and appliy it to your life, you will find tons and tons of truth. Man couldn't have come up with all of this stuff because it will apply to every aspect of life. No one has lived long enough to gain the wisdom the Bible has on their own, and even if they did they wounldn't credit it to some god. These truths and promises laid out before you in the Bible could only be Given to us by God. Who is the Father(God), the Son(Jesus), and the Holy Spirit(God who lives within us). God is all of these and all of these are God. But even this won't give you total assurance, because God takes faith. "Faith comes by hearing the word", that's somewhere in the Bible, but I forgot where. If this isn't enough, a lot of our laws and principles were based on Biblical principles. God takes faith, and that's the biggest thing. Nothing but you can choose to believe in God. Start with the Bible though, because that is the root of faith.

All of this to say that you should believe the bible without proving the bible. Faith is blind by nature, of course- faith is trust in something that you may well have doubts about. But that doesn't rule out hard facts. However, hard facts do not determine whether or not we believe in God, or that the bible is true- they affirm such things.
Earless, I am going to be PMing you various things to help you out. Just keep in mind that evidence, by the by, is useless if we don't refer most often to what we are trying to prove- God, Jesus Christ, the bible and our faith.
Answer:
So your reasoning for killing yourself is because God isn't real to you? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Originally Posted by nix So your reasoning for killing yourself is because God isn't real to you? Please correct me if I'm wrong. If God doesn't exist, there isn't a lot of purpose to living. Why? Well, barring some naturalistic alternative- like Buddhism, which really isn't all that attractive when compared to the potential held in Christianity- even in paradise, pain and suffering exist, plus the fact that paradise is only temporary. Unless you achieve Nirvana, in which case you cease to exist.
Christianity bears a lot of correlations with Epicurean beliefs- that happiness is found through virtue, discipline and devotion to a higher cause. There is a little bit of stoicism tossed in as well, but only a tiny bit. On the whole, other worldviews:
A) Do not offer such an array of satisfactory philosophies (ie they are shallower)
B) Are less plausible (Islam, for example, or Hinduism)
C) Are less purposeful (Athiesm, for example, lacks a lot of drive. Why live if it's just for carnal purposes, or an existence as an animal?)
Answer:
I find that a lot of times, it doesn't "feel" real, and it doesn't feel like there's really any point.
It's hard, but sometimes you just have to work through those points and realize that while you seem you're alone, you're not, and eventually things will be different.
I know it doesn't seem that way sometimes.

What is it about yourself that you aren't happy with?
Why do you get out of bed in the morning?
Where would you rather be?

Answer:
You are allowed to say what you wish to without me jumping down your throat.
I've found that sometimes I get so caught up in, I hate who I am, I hate where I am, I hate my ciscumstances, that that becomes my focus, instead of where I want to be, and who I want to be.
What about the other two questions?
