Speaking to the youth group
Question: I’ve been asked to speak to our youth group this Sunday about failure and overcoming failure. While my witness is almost all about overcoming failure I would really appreciate any help in this endeavor. Bible verses personal experience basically anything you think might help me in the discussion. Thank you in advance for all your help and advice.. Peace Answer: Paul and Peter are good Biblical examples of overcoming failure - esp. Paul. Bible verses personal experience basically anything you think might help me in the discussion. Thank you in advance for all your help and advice.. Peace Smitty, just be open and honest. What I know of your testimony has encouraged me. I'll be praying. Any aspects in particular you want verses or help for? Answer: I’d really like to show examples of God using failures to bring about good things. I would like the examples to be relevant to teenagers today. I would also like to show that failure is not uncommon even for good kids. If they can leave the discussion knowing that no single human being is any better than any other person that would be great. Peace Answer: How are some of your past failures being used by God today? Also james 2:10 comes to mind. All sinners have broken God's law. We all are guilty of all. I hope that helps a little, Answer: From experience I know kids tend to listen a lot more when they can tell you're being sincere and speaking from your heart. Answer: Thanks guys, I will be speaking mostly of my own testimony and the simple fact that I’ve been asked to speak to them is a good example of God using our past failures to further His work. The only way I know to talk to them is from the heart, I’ve given my testimony a couple of times during regular services, but this will be my first time being the primary speaker. I’m excited yet nervous at the same time, the James 10:2 verse is perfect for what I’m speaking about I’m also going to use Romans 8:28 it’s easy for me to relate to kids that are really screwed up my problem comes in showing good kids that without Christ they’re screwed up too. Hopefully the Peter and Paul examples will hit home for those kids. Our God is truly an amazing God; one of the recent things God is using in my life is the loss of my job in June. He’s opened the door for me to go back to school so I’m majoring in Elementary Education, and I’m almost done with my online Bible school so by the time I finish I’ll have an AA in Christian ministries and a BA in education. I’m hoping to be used in lots of different ways. Thanks again for all your help you guys are all awesome brothers and sisters in Christ.. He then ends up writing 2/3 of the New Testament. Job is also another good example, although he didn't necessarily fail... Also, you need to define failure. Do we define it by the world's standards or by God's? What constitutes failure as a Christian? Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
