Brain-teaser

Question:
One of my professors presented this puzzle to us in class tonight and so far no one can figure it out:
Correct:
0 + 1 = 1
1 + 1 = 2
1 + 2 = 3
And just next to it:
Wrong:
0 + 1 = 1
1 + 1 = 2
2 + 1 = 3
Why is the second one wrong? (the answers are incorrect, not the arrangment of the problem, etc.)
Anyone seen this before or caught something I'm obviously not seeing?
Answer:
no sorry im horrible at these things
Answer:

Aha, then it probably has some sort of humorous explanation. Mathematically, it is, of course, nonsense.
Answer:
Add the collumns up vertically.. starting in top left corner going down....0+1=1 1+1=2 1+2=3 In the incorrect one....
0+1 (doesn't equal)2, 1+1(doesn't equal)1, 1+2=3
I'm assuming that to be the answer, but that's way too easy

Assuming what to be the answer?
That doesn't even make sense.
Man, I hate team-building.
