Mcdonalds anyone?
Question: Alright, who hear works at good ol' Mickey Dee's? Are there any other wierdo's like me who actually really like working there? At my store anyway, there's a great group of people who are a lot of fun to work w/ and who work hard. w00t, today, we did almost $3000 between 11am and 2pm, which was centered by a masterpiece of a $1256 lunch hour! We rock! james PS, this is not a cheap post, I really am interested in seeing who else works there. Answer: I used to work there, it sucked. The managers are the worst. Answer: Aww, why did it have to get moved to this forum? This forum gets so little traffic. Sigh. Originally Posted by SeizetheDay I used to work there, it sucked. The managers are the worst. I find it's the opposite at my place. All (or I should say most, there are 1-2 bad ones) of the managers are great, nice, and genuinely want you to do a good job. Answer: I like to work in real restaurants...hmm good food. NO offense to MceeDees. Answer: Originally Posted by Blade84135 I like to work in real restaurants...hmm good food. NO offense to MceeDees. No offense taken of course. Good grief, I hear it from my manager's and bosses, and I agree w/ it, at least the good food part. It fits better here, it is an occupation - you can discuss it with others, perhaps even compare working at Mickey D's with working at KFC.. Also if i let it stay in GD, this forum would get even less traffic. Lastly, if we could post threads depending on where the most traffic is, my blog and just about every thread i post would be in GD as well... and nobody wants that. Answer: I worked at McDonald's for four years off and on. I thought it was a great job for during high school. I got to choose my own hours to an extent which was really helpful and they were always willing to give me a couple weeks off if I had a ton of school work or exams. In terms of the actual work, sometimes I hated it and sometimes I like it; it all depended on who I was working with. If I was working with friends or people I got along with we would have a lot of fun. My store was a really low volume store and very few people came in between 8pm and 11pm when we closed so usually we would have the close done by 9pm and then just hang out eating fries for the rest of the night until we closed the restaurant. However, being McDonalds, it has a tendency to pretty much hire anyone who applies which leads to a lot of incompetent people working there. A lot of times I would be working the counter or the drive-thru and the people in the back would be extremely slow and thats when it would suck because you are the one who has to deal with the angry customer even though it is someone elses fault. Other people just wouldn't care about the service or quality of the food which really sucks because in the end the customer was angry with you. Also, I have to say, I didn't enjoy coming home smelling of grease and even after taking a shower smelling of grease. Although what really smells at the end of the day is the pickle brine that you get all over your fingers. Answer: I don't work at McDonald's but by best friend has worked there for a few years. I always got to hear his stories about the cranky (and frequently stupid) customers and how busy they were and how he was practically the best worker there. He was the crew trainer before he went to college, but now he just works when he comes home for breaks. Answer: Originally Posted by OneHope I worked at McDonald's for four years off and on. A basically completely flexible schedule (though not quite so much now that I am shift manager) and time off whenever needed. Hmhmm. I like it for the most part, but sometimes I get tired of it. Our store is the same though. Not very busy after like 9pm usually, so when I close (1-3 nights a week) I will have the lobby and the whole front of the store cleaned and stocked by 9pm, and then we only have the stuff left that can't be done til we actually close (fry holding station, shake machine). I don't think it's McDonalds, it has to do w/ the store manager. My boss for example, is really picky about who he hires, and if they don't do a good job w/in a reasonable amount of time, they go back out the door. He's picked some really great people. There's a lot of Brazilians, many of whom work 2 jobs for a total of anywhere from 70-100 hours a week (yeh, I'm not kidding!), and so they know how to work hard and do a good job. I think in the end it comes down to the people. It's the people that can make it a great place to work, not the place itself. Yah, someone who used to work there said he HAD to shower before he went to bed, or he would wake up hungry cause he smelled like burgers. Answer: I will one day becuase I want to get free hamburgers and get paid at the same time!Sounds awsome. Most people get sick of the food pretty fast. Many of us don't really eat anything there anymore. A lot of people (including myself often) bring their own food. A lot of people (including myself often) bring their own food. I always ate there. Mainly because I was too lazy to make myself a lunch and it didn't seem right bringing a lunch to a restaurant. I mean, if you didn't like the grease you could always get a sandwich, which is probably what I would have made for myself anyways. The worst was when I had 8+ hour shifts on three consecutive days that spanned lunch and dinner time so all I would eat for a few days would be McDonald's. I was feeling it after those days.
