Awkward requests for advice.
Question: I'm sure we've all been through this before but, a friend of mine came to me the other day and asked me a very awkward question, for advice, and I didn't know what to say. I was caught off guard and the question really confused me. What do you do in situations like this? Do I simply say, 'I don't know'? Do I ask them for some more time to think? Do I tell them how awkward it made me feel? Answer: I nail it head on. I tell the person how awkward the question is and then I usually answer with an awkward response followed by a more serious point. Answer: Originally Posted by cytorath I nail it head on. This one I really couldn't come up with an answer at all and had to tell him that I didn't know. Do I tell them how awkward it made me feel? I'd assume they probably are already embarassed by the awkwardness of the situation. Really it depends on the question. I have been asked some awkward questions I will answer, others, I will not, pending the appropriateness of the question. Yeah, I mean, the dude is a new Christian, and his question just made me double take and I almost responded with "I can't believe you'd ask somebody that!" If it didn't embarrass him then nothing will get to him... Answer: You would be surprised. As a seminary student, if there is a subject I get asked about most by my wife's friends, its sexual ethics in rather... odd matters. (for the record these are ethically-curious nurses mostly of both genders in my wife's presence) Some intend to play shock the seminarian, (bad move) others are genuinely curious. Like I said, some I will answer, some I won't. Its strange what our world believes Christians believe. Answer: Originally Posted by BillSPrestonEsq You would be surprised. Yeah, this one is a bit sexual, but I really can't figure out an answer, I mean it's not like a normal "is this okay" question and wasn't meant to shock me, It was honest and confused me... If you would like to PM me, I can help possibly. Answer: Originally Posted by BillSPrestonEsq then I would try to find an answer. If you would like to PM me, I can help possibly. K, Thanks.
