On Being Jaded/Cinycal

Is beign jaded really a bad thing?

"Jaded" and "cynical" are such overused words. Most people who describe themselves as jaded or cynical really aren't... they're just pissed off at the world or some particular part of it.
Answer:
I would assume being jaded is a bad thing, then again, I am pretty jaded and cynical from time to time.

One of the issues I've experienced with people who are jaded/cynical (not to mention being so myself from time to time) is that it's very hard to approach God. How do you pray to a God you can't see when nothing thrills you, you only see the disadvantages to everthing?
I think that this is actually where the coming together of believers is most beneficial. If you get enough people in a setting where they are all able to speak openly, honestly and kindly to each other, someone's bound to be happy, or perhaps even cheerful by nature. And that kind of thing is infectious. It's not the cure, of course, but it helps get you closer to the cure.

God does not generally reveal specifically to people what is already revealed in his word.
Why is being jaded bad?
Simply put, one of the things Christ does in our life is take away our heart of stone, and replace it with a heart of flesh. Jaded, comes from the beautiful, but extroardinarily tough stone that bears this name. Being jaded is essentially having a heart of stone as scripture would put it, and that is not a good thing.
Also, its generally a bad idea to tell someone to ask God as if he will answer apart from his word. It is far better to search his word, and if it is not contained therein to ask for wisdom.

It also demonstrates a lack of hope. It is easy to become cynical when our eyes are on the sinfulness of those around us, not to mention our own. That just means that our eyes are not fixed on Him.
