I need help.....
Question: I need help...I have struggled with a pornography addiction and everything that goes with it for a long time..and I try to stop....its just difficult. Can you guys please pray for me? You guys here are great and it would be awesome if you all would pray for me..I could really use it. Anyone else here who struggles with this can post here, and I will pray for you.....thanks guys. Answer: man, i just wanted to say, that you are really brave to own up to your problems, and be able to confess them so transparently. Every one of us has temptations, that we have to stuggle with every day. God is right there with you to help you and guide you. It looks like your heart is allready in the right place, ( wanting to change). God can use that. Any teptation or i guess 'addiction' ( for lack of a better word.) Will take a long time, and will be really hard to over come, but with God's help you can do it! There was a cirtain pattern of abuse in my family, growing up. I was also apart of it. I even abused my little sis' somtimes. For years I felt really guilty and awful. But, now I know that God has forgiven me, because I asked. And God has been really merciful towards me. Now that that has been years ago..my sister and i are really close. Now, I no longer have any teptations in that area. One of the things that really heped me was : praying, talking to someone about it, and developing new healthy habits. God will change anyone, if they want to change. So keep strong and don't give in! I will be praying. ( oh, yeah if you get the chance, read James 1) Answer: I've found that when I'm tempted pray for God to give you the strength to walk away and start doing times tables in your head. Ex. I always start with 4x4=8, then 8x8=64, and 64x64--- by the time you get into the high numbers you won't be thinking about it anymore. For myself, I've found that reading myself, finding out when I'm vulnerable, helps. It's not a magic pill, but it's definitely something that you should keep in your toolbox. I'll be praying. (and! 4x4=16) Answer: I'll be praying for you.. Just remember to pray yourself too.. I hope this gets better... Answer: Thanks guys for the prayers. I will keep you guys updated on how I am doing. Day 1 so far. Please keep praying, YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!!! Anyone else here who struggles with this can post here, and I will pray for you.....thanks guys. You need to get rid of any HARD COPIES YOU HAVE.....trash them, burn them, break them. Then you need to delete everything off your computer. Limit your time on the computer. Perhaps...find an 'accountability' program that allows a close friend to monitor your web activitiy. PRAY PRAY PRAY Good luck! Answer: It was late and I was tired. lol It only took me four years *holds up five fingers* to get edumacated. Answer: As soon as I feel the tempataion (in fact I am right now...) to go look at porn I pray to God to help me. teh important thing is tokeep your mind OFF of your problem. also I have heard that www.xxxchurch.com helps it is a christian anti-porn site. will be praying... also, just rememebr that dirty grimy feeling you get afterwards.... at first when you are tempted it sems like a good idea to go look, but after you do you feel so dirty and wrong adn you regret what you have done... just rememebr that feeling when it gets too hard and usse that feeling to boost oyu to pray to God to deliver you. Answer: see?? I don't know how long ago it has been since I posted, but I was tempted then .. now I feel no temptation (not to say it won't come back) because I got my mind off of that read some more advice columns and prayed to God!! you got this in the bag!!! give satan one to cry over!! Answer: Grr..I am mad at my self...I went and looked at porn......I didn't go all the way but still..GRR! Please keep praying..school starts soon so that will help me alot with this...I just need your guys prayers...grr. I got to stop this...you guys are awesome and I love ya all..thanks for the support..... Answer: If you have the means I suggest subscribing to Covenant Eyes (www.covenanteyes.com). It's an accountability program much like X3Watch but much better. It is impossible to get around; if you disable it you disable your internet and notifies your accountability partners that you tried to disable it. It records and scores every site you visit and sends the list of high-ranking sites to one or two accountability partners. It really worked for me; my girlfriend and a close guy friend were the ones who recieved my reports. Let me tell you knowing my girlfriend would see every site I was thinking of visiting really helped me avoid them. You need to be accountable for your internet use. We all do. But in those times of temptation it's always a wet blanket to know someone else is going to see what you're looking at or thinking of looking at. Is your computer in your room? You may want to consider shutting it down for a while and using a family computer in a high-traffic area, or moving it to a high-traffic area (living room, etc). If you can't move it anywhere then avoid being on it when home alone, late at night, etc. and also consider moving it in your room so the screen is facing the door (and always keep the door open). But ultimately these surface changes can't change your heart. Like I said you need to get accountability and also really invest in your local church. Ask God to transform your heart and desires. Seek Him to fill that need for intimacy instead of porn. Spend a lot of time in the word and in prayer. Ask Him to change you from the inside out; don't try to change just the outside. If you're heart is in line, the external things will take care of themselves. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
