serious question about some strange things
Question: hi, just to let you know, if you are reading this, this is not a joke, it is serious. On monday i went away on a business trip to upstate ny for a couple of days, and had some really strange experiences, what some people call deja vu. I have been a Christian since elementary school, and have recently been trying to resist temptations to sin more than ever, and have been trying to read the Bible more and pray more. Anyways, so on this trip, and a couple days before the trip, there have been multiple occurrences of deja vu, sometimes many a day. Does this have any spiritual significance? The thing that bothers me most about this is that they have a negative sort of feeling that goes along with them, i.e. while driving in one spot in town, i had this sudden feeling/thought that something is going to happen with my job, and that somehow it would end. Also, the strange thing about this is that we just got our reviews, and it was good (not to brag or anything, just present facts and info that might be helpful). During the past two days on this trip to ny, there were many times where i felt that i had been in those places before, again with negative feelings/thoughts that were attached to them, mostly related to work. What could this mean? Is God trying to tell me something or warn me to quit my job now before it gets bad? Conversely, could it be the evil one trying to tempt/discourage me? Any thoughts on this? This is really starting to get scary.. Answer: Heya, It could be (prepare for shock!)... Deja vu. Seriously, that's a very real possibility. Answer: A deja vu is usually a glitch in the matrix. It happens when the machines change something. Now that I've got the geek reference out of the way... What type of bad feelings do you have about work? Is there any particular reason why you morally shouldn't be working where you are? What kind of work do you do? Are you having problems with coworkers who try to pressure you into certain situations or persecute you? There's really no actual reason though to automatically assume that this deja vu means something spiritual. It could be something as simple as you saw something on tv about the city you're in and later you subconciously remember that situation while you're in the city. It happens. Answer: If you are having doubts about work, I would say, ask God to take your aniexty away. Starting your day with prayer can be great. Rest in him and know he is God. If you think possibily you are being led in a different direction as far as a job. Ask God if that is what he wants for you and earnestly seek his face about it. He loves us to talk with him about our problems. Other than that I would say just pray and wait in the mean time and try to relax. I'll be praying for you. Answer: From my personal experience, it seems as though we think about big issues in our lives more often when we are out of our ordinary day-to-day environment. When you're at home, it's easy to get bogged down in the details of your daily grind and you don't have as much time to think about the big picture. When you're away, however, you have more time to think about things back home from a much larger perspective. More than likely, you're just thinking through some issues you've been having for awhile and particular things in the place you are now are acting as prompts of sorts and directing your thoughts (for example, one time on a mission trip I passed by a "couple" in the youth group talking pretty seriously together and I suddenly thought of my relationship to a girl I was sort-of-going-out-with at the time and some issues it had; it's just the way our minds work, things remind of other things all the time). I don't think its anything spiritual. Answer: I think my deja vu -like experiences can be summed up into three categories: 1) Remembering that I had a dream like what I'm experiencing right now. This kind of deja vu for me usually means that I'm in the middle of something that is an important point in my life from the Lord. 2) Sudden pictures or impressions of emotions without any prevocation, unrelated to anything I'm praying about or thinking about... My friends and I have generally believed this sort of thing to be demonic. In most cases in this situation, I'll ponder the picture or feeling I just got, and if it doesn't seem to make sense, have any meaningful context or wisdom, or have any sense of the Lord's presence attached to it, I will rebuke the picture and the demonic power behind it and command it to leave me alone. 3) Pictures and impressions from the Lord. - These usually happen when I'm looking towards Him, either praying or thinking in His direction or about the things of God.....the pictures or impressions have wisdom and direction attached to them (they make sense) , as well as a sense of the Lord's presence behind them. There ya go. Other than that, it may be a glitch in the matrix (Or, it may be that you are eating food or taking medication that upps the levels of serotonin or dopamine in your brain, creating dream-like states or minor sensory hallucinations during your waking hours, as well as a light touch of paranoia.) Have fun. Heather Answer: I think I'm right in saying that deja vu occurs when a synapse in your brain gets slightly out of synch thus giving the impression of familiarity (because your brain 'experiences' the event twice, fractionally apart), thus a repeated occurance of this isn't necessarily surprising. I don't know if that helps (probably not!) God bless, Rich Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
