Biblical reasons to leave relationship
Question: My friend is thinking about dating this guy, and he's a pot smoker. I want to give her some Scriptures that support her to run from this guy/cut it off immediately. Can ya help. Thanks! Case Answer: Is the man a Christian pot smoker at least? Psalm 1 " 1 Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night. 3 He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so, But are like the chaff which the wind drives away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the Lord knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the ungodly shall perish. " I think pot smoking is not the most godly activity there is... Although that verse doesn't really say not to date pot smokers, I think you see where I am coming from with it. Proverbs 14:16 "A wise man fears and departs from evil, But a fool rages and is self-confident." Also I think there is somethin about avoiding the appearence of evil. Don't know where though.. Answer: If he's a Christian, then he's a fool for his blatant disregard for the law. So whether he's a Christian or not, she'd be very foolish to date him. Answer: Thanks guys. He's a church-goer, but I've met him before on several occasions and saw no signs of true fellowship with Christ. Case Answer: If her common sense hasn't told her that this is a bad idea, I'm not entirely sure Scripture will do much more for her. Answer: Is she supposedly a Christian? Its manifestly obvious why a Christian girl shouldn't date a pot smoker that shows no signs of being a Christian beyond going to church. If you really want I could give you a grocery list of scriptures as to why she shouldn't date this guy (if shes a believer), but really it seems manifestly obvious. Answer: She is a Christian, and she broke it off with him, I just wanted some scriptures to fortify it, maybe even make her feel better about it, cause she was really into him and this all kinda hit her at once.
