Helping a suicidal child...
Question: whose father died a year ago... she believes that she has nothing left in the world, now that he father was killed in a car accident... and i just found out that she was suicidal.. her mother worries, her teachers fret, but she tells me that i'm what's keeping her here.... why would a child look up to a 17 year old, instead of her own mother, or her teachers? Why would a simple 17 year old be the one preventing the suicide of a 9 year old? Who knows, but... you have found yourself in that position, now the fact of the matter is, you have a major impact in a young girls life. Be a godly example to her. You have a once in a lifetime opportunity here for good. Answer: it is easier to go to a friend or someone closer to their age when they are having problems. thats what i do. i never go to my parents. just set a good example and try to help her..the best thing to do is listen. just listen. see whats on her mind..why she wants to die..getting everything out to a friend who will listen helps.. try showing her that gd is there and he has a plan. You can't really ask yourself these questions, they just happen. God works in strange ways sometimes, but He always works in ways that produce the best results. Have faith and thank God that you're in a position to have a very large impact on a hurting girl's life. I am glad that you are there for this child, but you need to get some resources yourself, because this is a heavy burden to carry. If things get intense with her you might need some help with helping her. Please check out this website: http://anointedyouth.org/fellowship/resources.htm Praying for both of you. Mrs. M. My advice is show love, joy, hope, and encourage her, and just be there for her, and talk and listen to her if she needs it. It may take a while but it'll be worth it. God Bless!
