God bless. Do: 1) Go to class. Every class. You're paying for them, for Pete's sake. 2) Read your textbooks. Teachers don't select them for no reason. 3) Pay attention in class. Turn your brain on before going to class. Don't: 1) Go out drinking with friends. It's cheaper and safer at home. 2) Read myspace when you should be studying. It's worthless. 3) Pay too much money for your books. Look them up online. Answer: Originally Posted by Nate Do: 1) Go to class. Every class. A couple more to add to these. DO: 1) Contribute to discussions, whether in class (depending on size) or in tutorials. 2) Ensure that you grasp the subject matter sooner rather than later. 3) Get involved in some aspect of the social life at your college. DON'T: 1) Put off that pesky assignment. There's always going to be a new one that is more pressing to get done. 2) Talk over the prof during lectures. 3) Be afraid to ask for assistance when you need it. 4) Lose sight of the goals that you have for being at college. Answer: Do remember to take some basic meds with you to college. (I had tons of people stop by for benadryl, advil, immodium, pepto bismol, etc.) Its good to have for when you do get sick. Don't force yourself to "study" like everyone else. Some people study best in groups. Some study best alone. Find out what works for you. Money should be watched carefully. I had 2 roomates drop out because they were irresponsible and ran out of money. These are in addition to the others posted. Answer: Do try to keep a regular sleep schedule. (Not staying up late during the week and trying to compensate by sleeping in on the weekends.) Connected with that, do try to eat three meals a day. Do find some people you can pray with and study the Bible with. And if you can, do all your homework on Friday and Saturday and take a real Sabbath on Sunday, going to church and hanging out with friends and enjoying the outdoors instead of working. Doing that got me through my last year and a half of college, where I was insanely busy yet managed never to be stressed out. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
