Losing my faith
Question: I am slowly but surely losing faith in God. Don't get me wrong he has helped me out many times and I am thankful but when I ask him to please help those that are helpless he lets me down. I have ask God to please proect small children from being hurt or killed by thier parents or strangers and for some reason he does nothing. Everyday small children are killed by thier parents or some psycopath. Children are helpless especially if they are 6yrs and under. They look to adults as thier pillar and these adults let them down. Small babies are being killed for what? For simply existing? Is this part of God’s plan? Some plan. Why can't he just someway, somehow protect the children of this world. He's God he can do anything right? At this point I am simply not just losing faith but I am becoming more and more angier with him everyday. Someone please tell me something that makes sense. I don't wanna hear that this is his plan because I just don't buy that anymore. What kind of God lets children suffer or become unsafe in the hands of thier parents. It pisses me off. Answer: i've doubted god many times. i think its something everyone goes through. i didnt want to go to church or hear about anything someone wanted to say. for a while i thought theres no god so why live. but he is there. i'm glad you aren't going to kill youself. it was scary when i read that. but just like you told me..god is there even when you dont feel him or when you dont think that he is really there. i dont know what else to say. i'm not very good at giving advice.. i'm praying for you. Answer: Everyone has those doubts. Great for us that God already knows. He never called us to understand just to trust Him. You have been doing the right thing by praying about those things that concern you. One blessed thing to remember: We can't lose our faith because Jesus has it securely in His Mighty Hands. Keep fighting the good fight. God promises to hear our prayers. God Bless. Answer: The same God that sent his Child to die for you. The same God who provided you with love when you sinned, basically spitting at Him. This world is of our own Creation. We sinned, we let death come into the world. Everyone will die, the only life is eternal. So many times we thing we deserve God, or vice versa. So many times we think, "Why doesn't God save everybody?" The true question is, "Why does God save anybody?" If you believe, lke I do, that young children go to heaven. Then they were spared a horrible life of death, and sin on this Earth. Answer: Everyone of us have sined, because God gave us free will. Because he loved us so much that he didnt make us robots that follow him because he told us to. When he gave us free will, he gave everybody free will. Even the parents and sychos who kill children. God loves them as much as you and lets them make their own decicions. The sum of the matter is that God rarely will interfeer with someones free will. it is a consiquence of sin. Answer: Little known fact: the "run and not grow weary" verse comes for a long section dealing with a very simliar issue. The Israelites believed that God was not treating them fairly. Isaiah 40:12-14,27-31 (NLT) Who else has held the oceans in his hand? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed out the mountains and the hills? Who is able to advise the Spirit of the LORD? Who knows enough to be his teacher or counselor? Has the LORD ever needed anyone's advice? Does he need instruction about what is good or what is best? O Israel, how can you say the LORD does not see your troubles? How can you say God refuses to hear your case? Have you never heard or understood? Don't you know that the LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth? He never grows faint or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. He gives power to those who are tired and worn out; he offers strength to the weak. Even youths will become exhausted, and young men will give up. But those who wait on the LORD will find new strength. They will fly high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. I think the two most important phrases there are... 1. "Has the LORD ever needed anyone's advice?" 2. "He never grows faint or weary." God is actively involved in the world, and He knows what He's doing. Consider also: Romans 3:10-12 (NKJV) As it is written: "There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one." Because of sin, this world is full of evil people who do evil things. Do you suggest God simply destroy everyone guilty of sin? The request has been made before. Psalm 59:5 (NKJV) You therefore, O LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel, Awake to punish all the nations; Do not be merciful to any wicked transgressors. Psalm 139:19a (NKJV) Oh, that You would slay the wicked, O God! Weren't we all wicked at one time, though? Didn't we all sin against God? Perhaps it is God's mercy that keeps the wicked alive, so that He may deliver some of them from their wickedness. The simple fact of the matter is that our world is messed up because of sin. This way of being messed up is not uncommon in ordinary situations. If one player on a football screws up, the whole team suffers. If one student in a class is disruptive, the whole class suffers. The only way to remove the suffering is to remove the offender. In the case of sin, however, EVERYONE is an offender. Do not forget that at some point God will come and, as David requested, slay the wicked. For now, however, He is patient. Praise Him that He is, for aside from God's patience we would all surely perish. Answer: everyone at some point doubts God's existence. myself included. someday he's gonna reveal himself to you in such a real way that you won't believe you ever doubted him. about those people getting killed, (this may sound harsh) don't worry too hard about it. i don't mean just ignore it, but don't let it interfere with stuff like work (unless that's part of your job) or your sleep. its pointless to worry about things that you have no control over. i sometimes have the same problem (but with other subjects) and when it hits, i just pray and pray until i feel better. hope that helps God Bless, †CussBus† Answer: I am slowly but surely losing faith in God. It pisses me off. -You know I'm afraid God is going to ask me the same question. Seriously why aren't you over in Africa helping people and feeding small children? Huh? -Sorry if that sounded harsh, but He is God and He has a plan! Think about it if the children die at a young age then they don't have the possiblity of growing up and rejecting Christ, instead they go to Heaven automatically. Death is a natural part of life, it happens. And ever since Cain and Abel we have had murder. You know that was OUR choice to bring that into the world [by eating the fruit] not God's, He made everything perfect WE ruined it, yet still He loves us and died for us! Besides, our lives are not ours they are God's, he made us He gave us life He can choose when to take us no matter if we are young or old. -Don't give up your faith because of this, in fact read Lee Strobel's The Case for Faith it deals directly with the issue of suffering and how God can let us suffer. It is an awesome book and really put things into perspective for me [though I don't agree with the chapter on Hell in there, but I still have further studying to do there] -I pray you come back to God and your faith increases a hundred fold! Answer: I always wanted to know why God allowed bad things to happen. My brother an I read this chapter in a book that explained how an All-good God can exist, and yet he alows evil. my brother and I had to write a paper on it. This is my brother's paper: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ In Tim Staples’ book, Nuts and Bolts, he explains the topic of death and evil in a Christian’s perspective. We first must understand that God created all substance ex nihilio (out of nothing) and He made all things good (Gen 1:25). However, evil does not have a substance as it exists as a real privation (the lack of something) and that’s exactly what evil is – it’s a lack of good. For example, blindness is a physical evil. But what is blindness? It is the lack of sight. To understand the nature of evil, we must go back to the beginning. In the Book of Genesis, God created everything good, as I stated before. One particular good He made is free will. That good became involved with the entrance of evil into the world, not because of anything God did, but because of the choices made by free moral people named Adam and Eve. They chose to abuse the gift of free will. God could have made all humans like robots, but there is no reward for being forced to act good, and therefore, we would not have a chance to enter into God’s kingdom. Before Adam and Eve abused the gift of free will, there was no pain or suffering. However, it was after the fall that sin and death entered the world. We see here that God did not intend to have death in the picture. He gave the world over to us, and we made a mess of things. That’s how much He trusts us. Original sin damaged human nature, and as a result, all of Adam and Eve’s progeny would be born with a fallen nature – essentially good, but tainted by sin – it’s intellect darkened and it’s will weakened. Even creation itself has a fallen nature and awaits the final redemption when all things will be restored as it says in the book of Revelations, “and there will be a new heaven and a new earth.” For that reason, we have, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods, etc. We must consider the damage sin caused once it entered the picture. Also, we must consider things like justice, rewards, and punishment. This is the context in which God permits evil in the world. Because of the disorder of sin, punishment and pain happen in the name of love. In Proverbs 13:24 it says, “a father must spare not the rod in raising a son if he truly loves him.” It is difficult for a father to inflict pain on a son; yet, if he does not discipline the child, he will hurt him far worse in the long run. The child will develop bad habits and flaws that could lead to his spiritual demise. However, when we see a child die of a deadly disease or thousands of innocent people die in Louisiana because of Hurricane Katrina, we can’t compare this to a father disciplining his son. So there must be another reason why God allows pain, suffering and ultimately death to innocent people. There are two reasons why somebody might inflict punishment upon someone. First, to punish for wrongdoing, and second, in order to rehabilitate the offender. The severity of punishment is determined by the seriousness of the offense. We determine the degree of seriousness by examining the nature of the offence and identity of its victim. For example, killing a dog results in a different punishment than killing a human. Why? Because a human has immeasurably more dignity than a dog; therefore, an offense against a man deserves much more serious punishment. God is infinite in dignity; therefore, a crime against Him requires infinite atonement. Anything we experience by way of pain or suffering in this life is mercy to what we really deserve for just one offense against an infinitely holy God. When we see how serious our offences are against an infinitely holy God, we will no longer have a problem with our own suffering. We deserve worse than what we experience, no matter how difficult our situation may be. We must also understand that we are a human family, and as a family, we affect one another. We see this evidently when we hear of babies being born drug-addicted because of the sins of their mothers. We also see how the sins of our culture affect an entire generation. The loss of any sense of morality in education, government and the media has led to a generation that has lost its way, that has taken to manifesting its lack of direction in increasing promiscuity, crime, and violence. On a spiritual level, our sins not only affect us, but all of humanity, and that is the reason why a person may die at such an early age, or a natural disaster, like Hurricane Katrina, can occur. In reality, my sin could have been the cause of any natural disaster. Now because of God’s goodness, a child also may die early because his family is not “holy”. In other words, God may spare that child from becoming desensitized from his parents’ flaws, and therefore, taking the child to Himself before the child can actually commit sin. This message is not easy for the family of the child who died, but it can very easily be the reason why the child had to die at such an early age. Thus only two things will make sense- that which God inspires, and that which you inspire. Most likely you will choose what you say over what God says, since obviously you are more than a little pissed at God. I realize that you're upset. And for good reason. But here's something to chew on- every child who is abused, every person who is hated, every mother, father, son and daughter who exists on this miserable planet has a shot at salvation. Why? Because God is good, and he is perfectly willing and more than able to share that with us through his grace, which is infinite. Every breath that we breathe is a joy. A gift from God. Because it's most certainly better than the alternative of living without him- hell, in a word. The most abusive, drunken, hateful, soulless, uncaring parent in the history of mankind dwindles and writhes in agony in comparison to hell. God's not going to change the world that we have created for ourselves just because we want to stop the world and get off when it gets gruesome. Without imperfection, we can have no appreciation for that which is perfect. If we could live a lovely little two-car-garage life without God, what purpose would he serve? What goodness would he encompass with his being? Don't insult him by heaping the concept of unfairness upon him. With that in mind, is it God that is failing? Or are you just not asking for the right things? Like faith? Like hope? Like the ability to help these children you feel so deeply for? Like the grace, peace and comfort of God for those you know of who need it? God gives us just enough to fulfill our purpose of the moment. When we use what we are given, we are given more, and it is beauty. God never said we would be comfortable and physically sated. He stated quite the opposite. That is why he is there. Without bad, we cannot know good, for we would mistake the bad for the good without knowledge of both. 'For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people." -Titus 2:11 Answer: Originally Posted by gemisic I am slowly but surely losing faith in God. Gemisic, it pains and angers me to hear you say what your saying... On the contrary, who are you, O man, who answers back to God? The thing molded will not say to the molder, "Why did you make me like this," will it? Or does not the potter have a right over the clay, to make from the same lump one vessel for honorable use and another for common use? (Romans 9:20-21) All I hear from you is "why isn't God doing things my way?". Who are you to judge God? I apologize if I've gotten the wrong impression but, from the sound of it, you need to rethink your entire relationship with the Lord. Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
