Bubba...
Question: Eesh. I know this may be a bit silly to some of you, but I would really appreciate it if you prayed for my bird. Here's the story.... My parrotlet (bubba) was fine all afternoon, chirping, being snotty, etc. Joel and I left for about...an hour. We went to eat some dinner. We came back and found Bubba on the cage door all fluffed up. I took him out and he seemed to be having trouble standing at first....he was a little off balance. After I held him for some time, his balance was better, but he keeps leaning forward. (Like, if I hold him in my hand, his beak rests on my hand). I was verrrry freaked out, so I called a woman I work with who is a breeder medium-large birds. She said it sounded like he just fell in his cage, probably while he was playing. I really hope this is the case...as we don't have an avian vet in the area, and even if we did...we wouldn't be able to get in until monday, and bird illnesses are fast and severe. He seems to be a bit better now....I just caught him climbing around his cage to his water dish....but I would still love it if you guys would pray for him. I freaking love this bird. I would seriously be devastated if I lost him, especially so soon (we've only had him a few weeks). Thanks. Chelsea. Answer: Originally Posted by PontiusPirate Eesh. How is Bubba doing now? ~Mrs. M. Answer: Good news. Looks like Bubba is back to his normal, bratty self. When I removed the cover from his cage this morning, he was sitting on his branch looking at me like "took ya long enough!". When I tried to get him out, he proceeded to do his daily "climb around the cage...you can't catch me" routine. He's eating well (except his veggies), and chirping his little head off. It looks good. That's great! Answer: Changes.... Last night Bubba was on the bottom of his cage all fluffed up, and he was regurgitating seeds and throwing them. I called the emergency vet last night, and they....don't do birds. I called all the vets in town and they....don't do birds. The closest thing is in Vegas, 2-3 hours away. Hopefully I can get him in. Answer: aw, I'll be praying for you. My bird Larry (nicknamed Beaky) died on Friday morning...and it's hard! They do become part of our family. Just keep an eye on him and get him to the vet ASAP. Answer: So...I called the vet in Las Vegas. They want me there by 2. They want to run some blood/saliva tests.. and possibly hospitalize him. At least he is looking quite good right now...so the long trip will hopefully not be too stressful. Prayers SOOOOOOOO needed. Answer: Another update: Bubba is in Vegas. He is staying there for at least two days so they can run the tests and not stress him out (because he is so small and young). We will possibly have a $400 vet bill. This makes me really want to quit my job. I will get into it more later, but the two things she said could be wrong with him are very much the fault of Petco. Or at least of the zombie RCAC who is over me and won't let us care for the birds in the way they need to be cared for. Answer: Not that anyone cares.... But Bubba may have to go back to the vet. He was doing well for a few days...gaining weight. Now he will only eat millet, and is losing weight quite rapidly. I have to call the vet tomorrow. We have 5 pets, and they are part of our family. I know how hard it is when a pet is sick. When you add to that the expense of vet bills and the fact that this is all occurring during the Christmas season when things are supposed to be merry and bright - well, it all adds up to you needing serious prayer. I will continue to pray for you and for Bubba. Answer: Bubba's gone. He died at my mom's house the day after Christmas. We were 12 hours away, so we couldn't do anything. I have a dog and I am very close to her. If anything happened to her I don't know how I'd be devastated. I lost my turtle a few months ago. It stinks. I will pray that God comforts you from the loss of your bird. ~Chris~ Copyright © 2007 - 2008 www.thanktoday.com
