I need prayers, I am trying to overcome an addiction.
Question: Ok, I have been struggling with this for about five years now. Like a few months ago I told my girlfriend I had a problem and she imeadiately began to help me, with prayers, encourage, etc. Anyway, I have made it ten days now, the longest since it began, and I am REALLY STRUGGLING today, I almost had a breakdown twice today... I overcame it, but it was REALLY hard. She told me that after twenty days you break a habit or something with any addiction, and since this is the midpoint, a geuss it's a tough spot, but I really need some prayers, or at least right now, somewhere to channel my energy. I geuss i still haven't gotten to the addiction... I struggle with pornography and something that often goes along with it, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention it here or not, so i geuss i'll let it stay in for now. Anyway, just writing this killed sometime between now and when i get tired enough to just fall asleep. Thanks everybody. Answer: Originally Posted by two+two=FIVE!!! Talking to people that you know and trust is an important part of overcoming any addiction - you need people who can help hold you accountable. Don't assume that after 20 days the temptation will go away, but it will probably be more manageable. Take it one day at a time, and you will beat this. Pray hard. Answer: I'll be praying for you. You might want to check out xxxchurch.com. I know that wont help with the other thing.. but it's an accountability site and whenever you visit sites you shouldn't it sends an email to whoever you told it to so they know. It makes you stop and think about it.. knowing that yer girlfriend or youth pastor could see where you've been. And yesh, like Mtlmom said the temptation will still be there, but 30 days can break a habit. So keep it up. God bless ~ In Prayer Answer: Originally Posted by KaweenFunee I'll be praying for you.
