Uncle in ICU
Question: Hi, everyone- I have an uncle who was in a pretty major motorcycle accident last Friday. It is a major miracle that he is even alive. He was not wearing a helmet and he severed the main artery in his leg. People were on the scene immediately which I'm sure saved his life. He has some severe rib fractures and lots of internal injuries from impact and rib punctures. His lungs and his liver mainly. On top of that, they have discovered a mass of veins near his heart that they believe is a previously unknown congenital defect. Apparently just that is quite serious. My aunt is the postmaster in their little Minnesota town. Her stand-in died last week so she has no one to sub for her. She has to work while her husband is in ICU. My parents left this morning to be with them. According to my aunt, they have not had people speaking up to help. He is a pastor so this blows my mind, quite frankly. Thanks to all of you faithful prayer warriors. *smile* Answer: Praying. Answer: Praying. Answer: Thank you, girls. He should have been released from ICU today. Mom was able to help with his pain management and my aunt finally found someone to fill in for her so she can be with him. It turns out that the mass of veins is actually a tumor and it's by his liver, not his heart. Nothing to worry about. Getting info third hand is always tricky. *smile* He chipped a vertebrae in his neck so he is in a brace for now. His liver is doing well like most livers do. Good job, little liver. He dislocated both shoulders pretty badly and in combination with the general beating he took, he can't lift his arms to do anything yet. The gas tank ruptured and he inhaled a lot of gas. That has been really painful, but my mom is a former Respiratory Therapist so she was able to help with that quite a bit as well. Amazing what a difference it makes when you have a knowledgable advocate during hospital stays. Please continue to pray if the Lord brings him to mind. His name is Jef and his wife is MaryJo. Thanks so much! *smile* Answer: I hope the tumor isn't malignant? But I guess it isn't, since you say he has nothing to worry about. Glad to hear your aunt can finally be with him *nod* I'll do my best to keep praying. Answer: I will be praying for Jef and MaryJo. Is your mom still there with them? Answer: I'm sorry I didn't see your questions when they were posted. I saw Jef this weekend and I can safely say that his recovery has been amazing. He doesn't even limp. He says that the only thing he feels is a dull ache in his shoulders by the end of the day. They discovered a shoulder break a couple of weeks after he'd been released from the hospital. My aunt said that the doctors have been seriously dumbfounded at his recovery. He has resumed his full pastoral duties and the congregation has reached out to the woman who hit him. The faith of many people has been bolstered. Praise God for that! Answer: praise God for the miricles he does. i'm glad to hear his recovery is going well. Answer: Wow!
