prayer for my roomie
Question: My roomie has been substitute teaching at a local highschool. One day he talked to a student about God and gave him The Purpose Driven Life. He also prayed with him. He got a letter from the principe and teachers saying that he had to stop as ordered by law. They said they would fire him if he keeps talking about God. He really could use your prayer. The sadest thing is that the people that wrote the letter (principals and techers and stuff), one is a pastor and the other two are "christians" and go to church. Its sad that they love their jobs more than their God. Answer: The law was put into practice for a reason - how would you feel if he was preaching Islam? Hinduism? Can your roomie preach the Taliban's doctrine to his classroom? No. The law can't make exceptions for Christians. But he can still find other ways to bring his faith to his pupils. He can talk to them outside of a professional environment, or he may even be able to start a Christian/Bible club (my school has one!). If he's uncomfortable not being able to talk about his religion, maybe he should work at a Christian school. I'll pray that he finds other ways to share his faith and can still reach out to this boy! Good luck to him. Answer: Originally Posted by Wonder Woman The law was put into practice for a reason - how would you feel if he was preaching Islam? Hinduism? Good luck to him. I would rather the law be open to all religion than closed to them all. He isn't allowed to talk to the students off school grounds either. Even if he went to thier house on the weekend he can't talk about God...that is sadly illegal too. Answer: praying for your roommate. -In Prayer- Answer: Thanks! The boy that he gave the book to is 17 yrs old and already has one kid and another one on the way. He also works a full time job after school to try to support his kid and wife/gf. please pray for him too. Answer: I will pray for your roommate. Witnessing while staying within the law is an art, but I assure you that it can be done (I do it every day!) He will become a master of this in no time. I bet if he were to talk to the very people who wrote that letter they could give him some excellent advice on how to do this. Answer: Originally Posted by MtlMom I will pray for your roommate. I don't think its a matter or working with the law, but giving it all you got and not worrying about the law Answer: Originally Posted by santiago My roomie has been substitute teaching at a local highschool. I understand the passion to share the Gospel, but we've got to be careful so that we can continue to share it. As long as the message is not hampered, it's good to stay within the law.
