I don't know many of the details, but my best friend's stepmother is dying (of cancer, I think), and her dad/stepmother just flew down to Florida. I don't think I need to say more...for some reason, I cannot find the words to express what I want you all to pray about, but I'm sure you know (I know, strange).

Aw Jen, I'm so sorry. It's so hard to see someone you love loose someone they love. I will definitely be praying for 1) healing for your friend's step-mom, 2)comfort to your friend and 3) that God will give you plenty of opportunity to just be there for your friend when she needs it.
God will be glorified through this, don't doubt it. Even when a loved one suffers He is still sovereign, still good. We, in our feeble minds, just don't always understand the "why" of it at the time.

Just as a side note, I'm not sure how attached my friend is to the stepmom's mother, but I do know that while she was ailing she spent some time at my friend's house so that she could be taken care of (and my friend did take care of her a little bit). As far as I know, she is a very sweet lady, and is a Christian.
