Dear folks,

I've been assessed by the BC Government for much less loan funding than I require for this year. Especially given the fact that my dad has decided to basically screw me and totally leave me to my own devices with regards to finances this year.

I've been assessed for $2913. The assessed total cost for me this year is $15382. My mom is maxxed out with regards to debt. She can't help me.

I'm going to call the student loans people tomorrow. There is a process for appeal, but it's massively long.
I am terrified I will not be able to go to school this year.

God help me.

I know the feeling. The Canadian Student Loan system is poorly designed. I didn't get enough but was actually approved for a student line of credit through the bank. You may want to look into that one.

My mom just emailed me to tell me that my appeal of the loan process went through, they're now awarding me 7,056. That's a far cry better than what I was originally getting - $2500 or so.
