my friend's baby has hydrocephallus
Question: i would like to ask for prayers for my friend Jo who will be having her and her husband's first baby, who was diagnosed with having fluid in his brain (hydrocephallus). ok, background... in her regular monthly check up, during the baby's sixth month, she had an ultrasound and found out the baby's gender and the doctor saw fluid in his brain. and the other day i called her and asked how things are.. and she told me that the first week of june she's scheduled to have a C-section already, coz she can't deliver the baby the natural way, coz the head might burst... it'll be her 8th month... and as soon as the baby is delivered, he will have an operation to remove the fluid and check his spinal cord coz there's something wrong there too. so please please pray for her and the baby, this is their first child... thank you so much for all who will pray and may God bless you. Answer: Ouch! Not good! I'll be praying! And keep us updated! ~Jon Answer: Praying! Answer: thanks Jon and Gribbit! i appreciate it soooo much. God bless you both and yes, i will update you guys. jo will have another check-up before the scheduled C-section... so please pray that favorable results will be given by the doctors this time. thanks! Answer: Jo had her C-section earlier than expected... last Tuesday, just last week... her doctors had to make it earlier coz the baby's head is getting so big... she's home now and fine... but the baby's still in the hospital... he's had the operation and it was successful, his spinal cord had been operated on, the fluid in his head had been drained... but please continue to pray for the baby... his name is Julian Miguel... that he will recover very soon and will have all his faculties OK thanks!! Answer: Praisey, I can identify with your friends baby! I have Spina Bifida/Hydrocephalus. The two often go together. Basically, I have nerve damage to my lower body, and I have a shunt installed in my brain to drain out the fluid that gathers there. Other than that I look quite normal. (although its a bit awkward when I go for a haircut cuz I have scar tissue on my head ;-) But, I turned out fine! And God used my disability (er..I dont like calling it that) to bring me to saving faith in Jesus Christ, and He has used it to witness to others. St. Paul writes that he was given a painful physical ailment, and many times he asked God to remove it from him. God simply replied "My grace is sufficient for you". And it isint like Im totally wrecked. Heck, I was a disabled ski racer before I moved to the tropics..lol....yeah, I raced with the Disabled Downhill Ski team of British Columbia, the last race I did was the Canadian nationals... Honestly though, I hope your friends baby is alright. I'll pray for him/her whenever the Spirit calls the matter to mind. Answer: yikes.. sorry i have not been updating.. julian miguel is 2 years old now.. he still couldn't walk but he's having his regular physical therapy sessions... he's still being catethered by Jo (his mom and my friend) every morning and evening. Jo and her husband are not giving up hope that he'll be able to walk on his own someday... they are looking at migrating to Singapore or Canada so they can avail of the more high-tech stuff about this kind of illness. please pray for his therapy sessions.. that it will work for him.. and for finances because this kind of illness is so expensive.
