Number of serious prayer requests
Question:
Hello all,
Since I've moved to Vancouver (I live in Port Moody, BC, which is kind of like what Galveston is to Houston or what Manhattan, the Bronx, or Queens is to New York - an outlying suburb) there have been a number of things that have occured/developed that I need serious prayer for.
- I have a ginormous, painful, open blister on the arch (insole) of my right foot. Walking presents me a great deal of pain. I think the blister developed as a result of my leg brace being improperly molded to my foot, and now I have a huge chunk of my skin ripped away and it's infected. I saw a doctor today who advised me not to walk on it (problem #1) and that I should get antibiotics for it (problem #2). To this end, I have two prayer requests regarding this specific issue:
- That I would be able to attend classes normally. I'm starting College classes (Psych 100, Linguistics 100 and 101, and, if all goes to plan, Chinese 100 (Haha, it was my Mom's idea - she said "1.3 Billion people can't be wrong!") or possibly German 100 if I end up hating Chinese, a class which I'm currently on a waitlist for anyway) on Tuesday and I don't need my ability to perform in them to be impaired - I'll need to transfer to U Vic after first year and for that to happen my marks from my current school need to be good enough that U Vic will let me in.
- I'll probably need to rent a wheelchair so that I can get around campus to my classes. I can walk a little bit (like if I need to walk down some stairs in a lecture hall or navigate a tight space), but I've been advised to do so as little as possible. This isn't a terrible problem as my college is wholly wheelchair accessible, but the cost may be an issue. Please pray for this.
- I need to go on some antibiotics for the infection (and possibly for another, as yet undiagnosed, infection of my bladder, which is common for people with my condition, Spina Bifida) Pray that these aren't too expensive and that my mom can get coverage for them under her health plan, under which I am a dependant
- My Ontario health coverage (Canada has free, Government subsidized health care, however, you have to pay for prescription drugs) will no longer be valid in BC, in three months. Pray that the process for getting BC health coverage is expedient.
- Financial considerations. I currently owe $1300 Canadian for tuition expenses, in addition to the fact that I will likely have to spend $400+ (Canadian dollars, of course) for books. Tuition needs to be paid by the 19th of September. I'm confident that between some monies that I have in my bank account currently, cash that will be coming in from my Education Savings plan thanks to my Grandparents, and student loans, I'll have enough to cover it, but time factors are a consideration with these (i.e. I hope I'll get the cash in from these sources before the tuition deadline rolls around). Also, the Ontario Disability Supports Program had said they would cover my living expenses whilst living with my Mother in Port Moody (and, presumably, once I move to Victoria in second year) but they require confirmation from my employer that I'm no longer employed with them, which as yet has not come in. They were supposed to mail a final paycheque and a Record of Employment to me at my Kingston address (which would confirm that StarTek Inc. is no longer employing me) but I've tried to get hold of my aunt, with whom I was living, and there was no answer at her place.
- My Mom and Dad had a discussion last night (they're divorced, and my Dad lives in Australia) in which Dad seems to indicate that he would fund 50%, total, of my education, which is not the impression I had got from him previously - I thought he wanted me to go the whole distance on Student Loans, which would suck enormously. Pray that this is indeed the case. I have a feeling I won't be able to afford to have 60K+ odd dollars in student loans to pay off from a 4-year Bachelors and a 2-year Masters degree.
Answer:
A crutches a possible alternative to a wheelchair? The reasons being that it would cost less and it might make it easier to get around.
In any event, you've got prayer.

Thanks, Kiss the Son, but I wasn't done this post. There's still more I need prayer for. I'm on a library computer which imposes a 30-minute time limit on me, which ran out. I had to log back in.
